The application deadline for the current Low Income Energy Assistance Program (LIEAP) is February 28, 2015. LIEAP is asking individuals to think about those around them who might qualify for assistance with their heating bill. Households qualify based on number of occupants and income. Typical recipients include, but are not limited to, those households with small children, those with disabilities and the elderly.
Wyoming’s Department of Family Services urges low-income families and those on fixed incomes to apply for assistance now as the cold weather continues. DFS also urges those who applied and did not receive assistance in previous years to apply again as income guidelines have changed.
LIEAP is a federally-funded program designed to help low-income families and people on fixed incomes pay their heating bills during the winter months. LIEAP approval may also result in approval to get eligible homes weatherized which can significantly lower the energy costs and improve the comfort, health and safety of homeowners.
Income guidelines are included in the complete application packet which is available athttp://dfsweb.state.wy.us. Applications may also be requested by calling the LIEAP office at 1-800-246-4221, or by sending an email request to email@example.com. Applications are also available at all local Department of Family Services (DFS) offices, Senior Centers, and other local partnering agencies.
