Wyoming’s Department of Family Services (DFS) urges low-income families and those on fixed incomes to apply for assistance in paying winter heating costs as soon as applications become available. “Don’t wait for that first snow storm. Apply early and be prepared,” said DFS Program Manager, Brenda Ilg.
LIEAP applications for the 2014/2015 season will be mailed during the month of August. If a household received LIEAP assistance during the 2013/2014 season, and the household information has not changed, the completion of the new application will be much easier. Applicants should carefully read the application instructions and all application information and attach all required supporting documents. This helps to reduce the time it takes to process applications.
LIEAP is a federally-funded program designed to help low-income families and people on fixed incomes pay their heating bills during the winter months. LIEAP approval may also result in approval for the Weatherization Assistance Program which can significantly lower household energy costs by making homes more energy efficient.
DFS reminds household not to wait for weather to become unbearable. Although payments cannot be made until after October 1st you may call the number below to request an application.
