Released: Second Grant Opportunity:
Early Childhood Community Partnership Grant Applications

The Department of Family Services is excited to announce the release of the Early Childhood
Community Partnership Grant application. These grant funds are available from the Enrolled
Act No. 41, 2014 Budget Session, for a period commencing July 1, 2014 and ending June 30,
2016.  While some funds have been allocated through the contracts noted above, over $200,000 in grant funds are still available to communities through a second grant application period. The new grant application timeline will be November 10, 2014-April 1, 2015. Grant proposals will be accepted, reviewed and awarded or denied funding on a rolling basis until all funds are allocated.  Interested applicants should submit completed thoughtful proposals as soon as possible to increase their access to remaining grant funds.

This grant opportunity allows school districts or non profit organizations the opportunity to apply for one-time funding. Grant funds shall be used for developing, enhancing and sustaining
high quality early childhood education programs. The State of Wyoming believes the first five
years of life are critical to a child’s lifelong development, and the earliest experiences and
environments build the foundation for a child’s future health, behavior, and learning. The focus
of these grant funds is to make certain Wyoming’s children have the strong, positive foundation
they need to be successful in their first year of school and beyond. Just as school readiness is
multifaceted, so too is the environment in which a child grows and develops. To effectively
work so more children enter school ready to be successful, it is important to consider the family
and community context in which they live, the schools they attend, and the services available to
support their healthy growth and development.

DFS has contracted with Wyoming Kids First to provide technical assistance to communities
interested in applying. All questions regarding the grant application should be directed to
Becca Steinhoff @ Wyoming Kids First director@wyokidsfirst.org or by calling 307-996-6903.

Grant applications can be obtained from The Wyoming Kids First website .
