Central Registry is the facilitation of background checks for agencies and organizations working with children or vulnerable adults. 

Child care providers employing people who work with youth and vulnerable adults are required to perform central registry screenings for new and potential employees. 

The process includes confirming people who have been substantiated for abuse or neglect by DFS.
